The Branch area covers exactly what it says, the Surrey / Hants Borders. The large towns incorporated are: Aldershot, Alton, Bagshot, Camberley, Farnborough, Farnham, Guildford, Woking. As far South as Liphook, as far East as West Byfleet, as far West as Crondell and as far North as Yateley. With the areas in-between that is an awful lot of pubs to visit and survey for local guides, the National Good Pub Guide, and Pub of the Year awards.
We are rumoured to have in the region of 1,300 odd members, although you would not thinks so at any social or Committee meeting (ave 12), Xmas party / AGM (ave 50). We have days out on the bus / tram / train, we have weekends away, we do brewery visits, we meet in pubs, we also organise, work at, drink at ….. Beer Festivals. It is a terrible job supporting the Micros & Independent breweries, as well as upholding the right for the landlord to choose their guest beers, and campaign for a quality product in its full …... But someone has to do it. Please join us at a social, you never know you might like it.
We do have a lot of people who give their time and trouble to help out, the most visible being through the Pub Clips section in the News and Ale magazine, the most invisible, the group of people who distribute the magazine to the branch area. All are valued for their contribution. As well as these hardy souls, there is the branch committee as you can see below, along with the Woking Beer Festival Committee who are active from May through to November. All of these people are volunteers, and who are take part in CAMRA because it is FUN—I kid you not !
